Patriot Guard Riders

Patriot Guard Riders Mission Statement

The Patriot Guard Riders is a diverse amalgamation of riders from across the nation. We have one thing in common besides motorcycles. We have an unwavering respect for those who risk their very lives for America’s freedom and security. If you share this respect, please join us.

We don’t care what you ride or if you ride, what your political views are, or whether you’re a hawk or a dove. It is not a requirement that you be a veteran. It doesn't matter where you’re from or what your income is; you don’t even have to ride. The only prerequisite is Respect.

Our main mission is to attend the funeral services of fallen American heroes as invited guests of the family. Each mission we undertake has two basic objectives:

1. Show our sincere respect for our fallen heroes, their families, and their communities.

2. Shield the mourning family and their friends from interruptions created by any protestor or group of protestors.

We accomplish the latter through strictly legal and non-violent means.

To those of you who are currently serving and fighting for the freedoms of others, at home and abroad, please know that we are backing you. We honor and support you with every mission we carry out, and we are praying for a safe return home for all.

Hire a Hero

In 2006 the Armed Forces Support Foundation (501(c)(3) was created, along with Hire A Hero, to provide free employment services to returning service members and their families. Hire A Hero was created as a pipeline for service members and their families to reach out and connect to people through online social networking tools that would allow them to make connections to find a rewarding career. Our research and experience suggests that conventional job boards fail to identify the specific needs of returning veterans and did not effectively connect them with the wider military community. Hire A Hero is a national program that was created to address this gap.

Over the past three years, Hire A Hero has grown into a nation-wide resources the connects the growing number of unemployed veterans with job opportunities, education, and social services to help them re-integrate back into the civilian workforce. Today Hire A Hero has over 300,000 registrations and see's over 3 million unique visits a year, helping 3 out of 10 veterans find a new career.

Our successful approach was recognized by Time Magazine (September '08) as one of the top 21 ways to "Fix America" and was ranked at number 11.

Vets Prevail

Simply put, with Vets Prevail you can connect with other Veterans, complete our training program, and earn great rewards.

Each month at Vets Prevail, we open up new activities and training chapters to engage the minds of Veterans like us. Enrolling in the Vets Prevail Training gives you access to these tools to support your successful transition to civilian life. The training will enhance your abilities to problem solve and improve your mood, and will help you meet your goals and make time to reconnect to the people and things that are important to you.

We know the path to success after deployment can be rough or unclear - we've been there too - so our training covers the things we struggle with as Veterans who have been through some intense experiences. The training is built to be interactive, fun and customized to your situation and the issues that you face. You can do it privately and from the convenience of home.

Best of all, the more online activities you complete at Vets Prevail, the more rewards you can earn. Completing activities earns you points, which can be redeemed for valuable rewards like gift cards and restaurant vouchers.

As Veterans, it's time to get more for what we've accomplished.

Pets For Vets

The Pets for Vets program is dedicated to providing a second chance for shelter pets by rescuing, training and pairing them with America's veterans who could benefit from having a companion animal.

This is a win-win way to give back to our troops who have given so much to us. They fought hard for our country and made us proud. Pets for Vets is a concrete way to say thank you and to benefit our returning veterans.

Many of our Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom veterans suffer from physical and emotional injuries making it difficult to transition back to civilian life. Pets for Vets can help! Our goal is to heal their wounds by bringing together man's best friend and our returning soldiers while showing them both that we have not forgotten

Operation Love ReUnited

Operation Love ReUnited is a Non Profit Organization which recruits Professional Photographers to voluntarily provide a choice of one or two free photoshoots for military (and their families) who are either deployed or about to deploy. The soldier also gets a free photo album of pictures from the photo shoot which is sent to them over seas.

Everyone needs that shoulder sometimes… use ours.

**Please understand, Operation: Love ReUnited sessions are for deploying, depolyed and returning military and their families. Many of our photographers offer seperate pricing for military members if you are interested in family portraits. Thank you!**

If you have ever been through a military deployment, there are no words to explain how hard it is to send the father or mother of your children off to some foreign, dangerous land, leaving you all behind…. Alone. It’s indescribable to watch their faces light up as their mother or father comes up the stairs of the airport after months, possibly a year or more, of not hugging each other. Emotions fly through the main lobby, it’s so very good to have them home. Your base’s Family Support Squadron will help you with your deployment. But the last thing on your mind when your wife or husband arrives home after a 4 to 18 month tour, is capturing all this love– on film. Most people are so overwhelmed with emotions they forget to simply point and shoot the camera they are grasping of their child’s first hug, or that single tear of relief from a mother being able to hold her twenty year old son again. With the help of Operation: Love ReUnited and local photographers near your base, you can.

Disabled American Veterans

The DAV (Disabled American Veterans) is an organization that provides services to veterans, their families as well as the military. Here is an excerpt from the DAV About Us page from their website:

The 1.2 million-member Disabled American Veterans (DAV) is a non-profit 501(c)(4) charity dedicated to building better lives for America’s disabled veterans and their families.

The DAV was founded in 1920 by disabled veterans returning from World War I to represent their unique interests. In 1932, the DAV was congressionally chartered as the official voice of the nation’s wartime disabled veterans.

With our brave Americans leaving the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan, the DAV’s services and advocacy are as relevant and critical today as in any time in our nation’s history.

Annually, the DAV represents more than 200,000 veterans and their dependents with claims for benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs and Department of Defense.

The DAV’s Voluntary Services Program operates a comprehensive network of volunteers who provide veterans free rides to and from VA medical facilities and improve care and morale for sick and disabled veterans.

The DAV’s 1.2 million members provide grassroots advocacy and services in communities nationwide. From educating lawmakers and the public about important issues to supporting services and legislation to help disabled veterans — the DAV is there to promote its message of hope to all who have served and sacrificed

Operation Gratitude

Operation Gratitude is probably the leader of Care Packages for Soldiers.

Who We Serve:

Operation Gratitude sends packages to Wounded Warriors and deployed members of all Military branches: Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, and to units from all states and territories. While we will send at least 100,000 care packages per year, we know the recipients share with their comrades, so we project that at least 250,000 service members will be directly touched by our program annually. In addition, the impact of our program on morale is felt generally throughout the Military (2.7 million people) and by the loved ones of those who serve (several million more).
